La neuroanatomía es una parte fundamental de la neurología y en este libro se ha hecho un esfuerzo por presentarla dentro de un contexto clínico. En los capítulos 1, 2, 3 y 4 se describe la anatomía del sistema nervioso en el perro y el gato; los capítulos 5 y 6 hacen referencia a los conceptos de neurona motora superior e inferior; en los capítulos 7 y 8 se aportan detalles de las vías sensitivas de propiocepción y dolor; el capítulo 9 trata del sistema vestibular; y los dos últimos capítulos, 10 y 11, abordan el examen neurológico y los signos clínicos que pueden observarse según la localización de la lesión neurológica. Vicente Aige Gil se licenció en Veterinaria en 1985 por la Universidad de Zaragoza y se doctoró en Veterinaria por la misma universidad en 1988. Ha colaborado con la Universidad de Zaragoza, la Universidad de Reading (Inglaterra), la Universidad de Guelph (Canadá) y la Universidad de Glasgow (Escocia). Actualmente es profesor titular de anatomía de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB). In doing so, it both clarifies the Spanish contribution to the field of anatomy and disentangles the distorted political and historiographical viewpoints emerging from previous research. Studies of early modern Iberian science have only been carried out coherently and collaboratively in the last few decades, even though fierce debates on the subject have dominated Spanish historiography for more than two centuries. In the field of anatomy studies, many uninformed and biased readings of archival sources have resulted in a very confused picture of the practice of dissection and the teaching of anatomy in the Iberian Peninsula, in which the highly complex conditions of anatomical research within Spain’s national context are often oversimplified. The new empirical evidence that this book brings to light suggests a far more multifaceted narrative of Iberian Renaissance anatomy than has been presented to date. |
