anatomy of a roof: Microneuroanatomy and Surgery Feres Chaddad-Neto, Marcos Devanir Silva da Costa, 2022-01-31 Microneuroanatomy is essential to understanding the brain. In many cases, passing on neuroanatomical knowledge is a difficult task to accomplish, yet this is chiefly due to those who are tasked with conveying this knowledge in classes and lectures, or in books. In reality, neuroanatomy is simple and needs to be understood as a tool for approaching the different areas of the brain, not as an obstacle, and the only way to overcome this problem is to correlate neuroanatomy with various types of disease (arteriovenous malformations, aneurysms, tumors, cavernomas, hydrocephalus, etc.) This book provides a novel approach to the relation between microneuroanatomy and brain diseases. Each chapter addresses a specific neuroanatomical region, and correlates all the key neuroanatomical aspects with diseases that affect it; further, each chapter provides detailed insights into safely performing brain surgery in the respective region. |
anatomy of a roof: Fire and Rescue Service manual Great Britain. Fire Service Inspectorate, 2007-03-07 Incidents involving rescue from road vehicles are dramatically increasing in frequency. There are some 3500 deaths on the road each year, with 35,000 serious injuries. Modern motor vehicles are becoming safer for occupants, due to advancement in technology, so persons are more likely to survive high impact speeds, but are also more likely to become entrapped. This manual is designed to highlight current best practice with regard to vehicle rescue techniques and first responder trauma care. Each chapter forms an independent reference source, but the publication as a whole forms a complete guide. Chapters cover: vehicle design and construction; dealing with incidents; safety procedures; operational procedures; extrication equipment; medical considerations and trauma care; Integrated Personal Development System (I.P.D.S.). Appendices cover: Highways Agency/Fire and Rescue Service memorandum of understanding; training and general information; and emergency services personnel (ESP) aide mâmoire. The CD-ROM, Vehicle extrication techniques, is a multi media guide to rescue tool handling and extrication techniques. |

With the present scope and problems of neurosurgery as its theme, the congress achieved its aims in making possible the exchange and dissemination of new knowledge and ideas and in facilitating personal contact between neurosurgeons from aU parts of the world. Of such importance are the regional differences within our branch of science that we should spare no effort in acquainting ourselves with those neurosurgical problems which lie beyond the boundaries of our local horizons. From the vast number of papers the editor has selected those whose high scientific standard merits greater exposure than that given by the conference itself. I should like to thank the editor for his work and Springer-Verlag for their involvement in our disci pline. It is to be hoped that this book will find a worldwide audience, in accordance with the intentions of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies. Prof. Dr. K.-A. Bushe President of the Congress v Editor's Preface This is the first volume of a new series which aims to provide an overview of the state of the art of neurosurgery every four years. It will contain papers covering various fields of our specialty, selected from among those presented at each International Congress of Neurological Surgery. |
