ar 735-5 board questions: Army Medical Logistics Department of the Army, 2012-10 The AHS (Army Health System) is a component of the Military Health System (MHS) that is responsible for operational management of the health service support (HSS) and force health protection (FHP) missions for training, predeployment, deployment, and postdeployment operations. The Army's MEDLOG system (including blood management) is an integral part of the AHS in that it provides intensive management of medical products and services that are used almost exclusively by the AHS and are critical to its success. Also key to this success is the delivery of a MEDLOG capability that anticipates the needs of the customer and is tailored to continuously provide end-to-end sustainment of the AHS mission throughout full spectrum operations. Providing timely and effective AHS support is a team effort which integrates the clinical and operational aspects of the mission. The provision of MEDLOG support requires collaboration between the medical logisticians, clinicians, and other health care providers within the operational environment and encompasses the following functions: Medical materiel procurement and distribution (acquisition, receiving, shipping, storage, and stock record/property accounting); Medical equipment maintenance and repair; Optical fabrication and repair; Management of patient movement items; Production of medical gases; Blood storage and distribution; Medical hazardous waste management; Management of medical facilities and infrastructure; Medical contracting support; Total product life-cycle management of medical materiel and equipment. This manual describes the capabilities of the MEDLOG system and its role in sustaining the AHS mission. Medical logistics support for deployed forces is the primary focus of this manual. However, generating force or national strategic-level MEDLOG support is also addressed to present a clear picture of the processes involved and resources expended to guarantee a Class VIII support infrastructure. This Class VIII infrastructure ensures the seamless delivery of health care from the point of injury through successive roles of care to the continental US (CONUS) support base. This publication opens with an overview of Army MEDLOG, followed by a description of each MEDLOG unit, the capabilities available, and role of care where each element may be employed. This manual also covers the information systems and enablers available to facilitate the flow of supplies and equipment throughout the area of operations (AO), as well as the current force (Medical Force 2000, Medical Reengineering Initiative, modular division, and brigade combat team [BCT] force designs) and emerging concepts scheduled to occur as part of current and future force fielding events.

ar 735-5 board questions: Army Leadership and the Profession (ADP 6-22) Headquarters Department of the Army, 2019-10-09 ADP 6-22 describes enduring concepts of leadership through the core competencies and attributes required of leaders of all cohorts and all organizations, regardless of mission or setting. These principles reflect decades of experience and validated scientific knowledge. An ideal Army leader serves as a role model through strong intellect, physical presence, professional competence, and moral character. An Army leader is able and willing to act decisively, within superior leaders' intent and purpose, and in the organization's best interests. Army leaders recognize that organizations, built on mutual trust and confidence, accomplish missions. Every member of the Army, military or civilian, is part of a team and functions in the role of leader and subordinate. Being a good subordinate is part of being an effective leader. Leaders do not just lead subordinates--they also lead other leaders. Leaders are not limited to just those designated by position, rank, or authority.
ar 735-5 board questions: Mathematical Finance M. J. Alhabeeb, 2012-07-31 An introduction to the mathematical skills needed to understand finance and make better financial decisions Mathematical Finance enables readers to develop the mathematical skills needed to better understand and solve financial problems that arise in business, from small entrepreneurial operations to large corporations, and to also make better personal financial decisions. Despite the availability of automated tools to perform financial calculations, the author demonstrates that a basic grasp of the underlying mathematical formulas and tables is essential to truly understand finance. The book begins with an introduction to the most fundamental mathematical concepts, including numbers, exponents, and logarithms; mathematical progressions; and statistical measures. Next, the author explores the mathematics of the time value of money through a discussion of simple interest, bank discount, compound interest, and annuities. Subsequent chapters explore the mathematical aspects of various financial scenarios, including: Mortgage debt, leasing, and credit and loans Capital budgeting, depreciation, and depletion Break-even analysis and leverage Investing, with coverage of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, options, cost of capital, and ratio analysis Return and risk, along with a discussion of the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) Life annuities as well as life, property, and casualty insurance Throughout the book, numerous examples and exercises present realistic financial scenarios that aid readers in applying their newfound mathematical skills to devise solutions. The author does not promote the use of financial calculators and computers, but rather guides readers through problem solving using formulas and tables with little emphasis on derivations and proofs. Extensively class-tested to ensure an easy-to-follow presentation, Mathematical Finance is an excellent book for courses in business, economics, and mathematics of finance at the upper-undergraduate and graduate levels. The book is also appropriate for consumers and entrepreneurs who need to build their mathematical skills in order to better understand financial problems and make better financial choices.
ar 735-5 board questions: Capital Structure and Corporate Governance Lorenzo Sasso, 2013-08-01 Despite a clear distinction in law between equity and debt, the results of such a categorization can be misleading. The growth of financial innovation in recent decades necessitates the allocation of control and cash-flow rights in a way that diverges from the classic understanding. Some of the financial instruments issued by companies, so-called hybrid instruments, fall into a grey area between debt and equity, forcing regulators to look beyond the legal form of an instrument to its practical substance. This innovative study, by emphasizing the agency relations and the property law claims embedded in the use of such unconventional instruments, analyses and discusses the governance regulation of hybrids in a way that is primarily functional, departing from more common approaches that focus on tax advantages and internal corporate control. The author assesses the role of hybrid instruments in the modern company, unveiling the costs and benefits of issuing these securities, recognizing and categorizing the different problem fields in which hybrids play an important role, and identifying legal and contracting solutions to governance and finance problems. The full-scale analysis compares the U.K. law dealing with hybrid instruments with the corresponding law of the most relevant U.S. jurisdictions in relation to company law. The following issues, among many others, are raised: decisions under uncertainty when the risks of opportunism of the parties is very high; contract incompleteness and ex post conflicts; protection of convertible bondholders in mergers and acquisitions and in assets disposal; use of convertible bonds to reorganise and restructure a firm; timing of the conversion and the issuer’s call option; majority-minority conflict in venture capital financing; duty of loyalty; fiduciary duties to preference shareholders; and financial contract design for controlling the board’s power in exit events. Throughout, the analysis includes discussion, comparison, and evaluation of statutory provisions, existing legal standards, and strategies for protection. It is unlikely that a more thorough or informative account exists of the complex regulatory problems created by hybrid financial instruments and of the different ways in which regulatory regimes have responded to the problems they raise. Because business parties in these jurisdictions have a lot of scope and a strong incentive to contract for their rights, this book will also be of uncommon practical value to corporate counsel and financial regulators as well as to interested academics.

ar 735-5 board questions: A Political Practice of Occupational Therapy Nick Pollard, Dikaios Sakellariou, Frank Kronenberg, 2008-09-02 This challenging and innovative book explores the political aspects of occupational therapy. It looks at how practitioners may develop political awareness in order to aid community development. A Political Practice of Occupational Therapy is about maximizing the potential impact of occupational therapists' engagements and ensuring the profession is working towards the contruction of a civic society. It is supported by twelve chapters of practice examples from the UK, US, Georgia and Australia, as well as a history of the profession as an agency for social change. It asks: - How is it possible to introduce the political into a profession that is linked to health and social care? - What form could political practice take, and how could the political components of practice be analyzed and evaluated? It includes significant theoretical chapters on gender, class and sexuality, challenges to holism, occupational literacy, and a discussion of political competence. This book will be of particular use for students exploring community and emerging role settings, client centred practice, occupational and social justice and the theoretical base of the profession. From an editorial team that is widely recognized for their challenges to traditional thought and practice in occupational therapy, this book will be of value not just to occupational therapists but also those employed in health profession management and development, and community based rehabilitation.
