Gracias a los conocimientos actuales las personas hoy pueden ser padres de más de un niño, lo cual era imposible hace 50 años. Los diagnósticos actuales son muchos más específicos y los conocimientos sobre el genoma, el ambioma y la relación que tiene con las enfermedades causales de infertilidad, de calidad ovocitaria y cromosomopatías han abierto un abismo de posibilidades para lograr tratamientos exitosos. Alrededor de 20% de las parejas infértiles no conocen la causa de su infertilidad; sin embargo, esto no debe ser un impedimento para lograr un embarazo, las técnicas reproductivas de alta complejidad permiten la formación de seres vivos, genéticamente estudiados. La infertilidad no termina con el logro un embarazo, por lo que es vital dar un adecuado control prenatal, diagnosticar y tratar las posibles complicaciones que existen, como enfermedades placentarias como preeclampsia, restricción del crecimiento intrauterino y prematurez, así como dar seguimiento al recién nacido, producto de técnicas de reproducción asistida y sus posibles repercusiones, como autismo, afecciones neuromusculares y retraso psicomotriz, entre otros. Aún hay mucho por aprender y mejorar en este tema, y es importante generar conciencia en el país de que el problema de infertilidad existe y va en crecimiento, pero también los conocimientos y las maneras de ayudar a las parejas que la padecen. |
