diagram commercial stair code: Standardized Guidelines by Building Type Siegfried Wyner, B.S., M.S., C.E., 2008-04-22 The computer revolution over the past 10-15 years in our country has feed to the permanent dependence of all fields of human activity, on computer technology. Based on my experience as a plan examines for all building documentations, I find that is necessary a reform and improvement of the plan examination and approval process, in all boroughs of this big city of N.Y. Because the architects and engineers have the best knowledge of their documentations, I have realized that their help is the most necessary to the real improvement of the verification process. We have to help them in this hypothesis, I considered necessary to create a DATA BASE of guidelines realized for different building types, which will be a computerized flexible tool for all review and approved process, which can be updated all the time in the future, by adding new guidelines to the existing ones, with the new and specific requirements regarding new zoning resolutions, new code articles, new memorandums and criteria’s issued by the city department for the best development of this great city. This was the fundamental idea for the creation a DATA BASE of guidelines, which will help from the beginning of the process of creation of technical documentations, and after, in the long process of verification and approval, for the execution of buildings in the city. Certainly this collection of guidelines proposed in my 2 volumes, does not include all of the possible building types, zoning and code resolutions, but in my opinion and based on my experience is the most important tool in this complex process of approval of new investments. This tool can be used not only by designers of the documentations, but by the expediters, plan examiners, contractors, and finally by the owners of the investments. These two books will be a unified procedure for all the factors which contribute to the realization of investments. I consider to mention and other benefits realized by this written DATA BASE: • A reduced work load in the department of building • A uniform approach for all 5 boroughs in the verification and approval process • A reduction of time for verification and approval • An improvement in the quality of documentations presented for verification and approval • The use of self certification will be increased by the confidence of designers for their documentations • A remarkable reduction of people involved in this complex process • A sensible reduction of the investment costs. |

diagram commercial stair code: Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis Paul Lewis, Marc Tsurumaki, David J. Lewis, 2008 What if the constraints and limitations of architecture became the catalyst for design invention? The award-winning young architecture firm Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis calls their answers to this question 'opportunistic architecture.' It is a design philosophy that transforms the typically restrictive conditions of architectural practice—small budgets, awkward spaces, strict zoning—into generators of architectural innovation. Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis presents a diverse selection of built and speculative projects ranging from small installations to larger institutional buildings. Built projects are accompanied by thought-provoking texts, beautiful drawings and photographs. An appendix distills their design philosophy into five tactics, a readymade code for students and practitioners looking for design ideas for the real world. Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis is an architecture partnership established in New York City in 1997 by Marc Tsurumaki, Paul Lewis, and David J. Lewis. Paul Lewis is Assistant Professor at Princeton University. Marc Tsurumaki is Adjunct Professor at Columbia University. David J. Lewis is Associate Professor at Parsons The New School for Design. |

diagram commercial stair code: Eco-Towers K. Al-Kodmany, 2015-05-05 Eco-Towers introduces readers to groundbreaking designs, most progressive projects, and innovative ways of thinking about a new generation of green skyscrapers that could provide solutions to crises the world faces today including climate change, depleting resources, deteriorating ecology, population increase, decreasing food supply, urban heat island effect, pollution, deforestation, and more. The book suggests that the eco-tower culminates the cultural and technological evolutions of the 21st century by building and improving on the experiences of earlier designs of skyscrapers and philosophies particularly green, sustainable, and ecological. It argues that the true green skyscraper is the one that engages successfully with its larger urban context by establishing symbiotic relationships with the social, economic, and environmental aspects. Since tall buildings are becoming larger and taller, serving greater number of people, and exerting higher demand on the environment and existing infrastructure, any improvements in their design and construction will significantly enhance urban conditions. The book elucidates how green skyscrapers better serve tenants, mitigate environmental impacts, and improve integration with the city infrastructure. It explains how skyscrapers’ long life cycle offers the greatest justifications for recycling precious resources, and makes it a worthwhile to employ green features in constructing new skyscrapers and retrofitting existing ones. Subsequently, the book explores new designs that are employing cutting-edge green technologies at a grand scale including water-saving technologies, solar panels, helical wind turbines, sunlight-sensing LED lights, rainwater catchment systems, graywater and blackwater recycling systems, seawater-powered air conditioning, and the like. In the future, new building materials and smart technologies will continue to offer innovative design approaches to sustainable tall buildings with new aesthetics, referred to as “eco-iconic” skyscrapers. |

General building codes and industry standard conventions are covered in a way that is applicable to the current exercise. The first two chapters are intended to get you familiar with the user interface and many of the common menus and tools of Revit 2023. A small office is created in chapter two to show you just how easy it is to get started using Autodesk Revit. By the end of chapter two you will be excited and prepared to take on a much larger project. Throughout the rest of the book you develop a three story office building. The drawings start with the floor plans and develop all the way to photo-realistic renderings like the one on the cover of this book. In these chapters many of the architectural tools and features of Revit 2023 are covered in greater detail. About the Videos Access to nearly 100 videos, almost five hours of content, are also included with your purchase of this book. These videos break down each topic into several short videos so that you can easily navigate to a specific aspect of a tool or feature in Autodesk Revit. This makes the videos both a powerful learning tool and convenient video reference. The videos make it easy to see the menu selections and will make learning Revit straightforward and simple. It's like having the author by your side showing you exactly how to use all the major tools in Autodesk Revit. |
