don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Unsinkable Faith Tracie Miles, 2017-04-01 For many people, remaining optimistic and feeling positive about themselves and their lives is a constant battle—especially when circumstances are difficult and life is hard. For others, negativity is something that only sneaks up from time to time, yet still wreaks havoc in their hearts. Regardless of the root causes, once pessimistic thoughts permeate our minds, our feelings and emotions begin to control us instead of us controlling them. Eventually it doesn’t seem possible to stay positive, happy, and full of joy, and negative thought patterns shake our faith, causing us to sink emotionally, mentally, and spiritually over time. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Despite what storms roll in, hearts anchored in God don’t sink. When we change the way we think, we can change the way we feel and live, even if our circumstances remain the same. Intentionally embracing the opportunity to experience a transformed heart and a renewed mind opens the door for a changed life, because a positive mind will always lead to a more positive life. In Unsinkable Faith, author and Proverbs 31 Ministries speaker Tracie Miles offers hope for women who struggle with negativity. Each chapter explores Tracie’s and other women’s personal stories, showing how they rose above their circumstances by transforming and renewing their minds. Unsinkable Faith is a breath of fresh air for anyone longing for a heart full of joy, an unbreakable smile, and a new, more optimistic perspective on life. This book will equip you to: Replace pessimism with positive thinking by becoming the captain of your thoughts; Learn how true joy and happiness are based on choice, not circumstances; Overcome unhealthy habits of negative thinking by intentionally implementing three easy mind-renewing steps; Stop feeling hopeless and pitiful, and start feeling hope-filled and powerful instead; and Discover that when you change the way you think, you change the way feel, and in turn you can change your life completely. |

Dooley, 2020-06-23 Written by a pastor and father who has walked a painful road, Hope When Life Unravels explores the encouraging, upside-down truths of the book of Job, and other key Bible passages, to remind us of the ways God is present in our pain. Why does God allow suffering? And why does God seem to go silent when we're in pain? In Hope When Life Unravels, Dr. Adam Dooley, pastor and host of the daily radio broadcast A Better Way, searches for answers to our biggest questions about suffering as he shares his son Carson's story of battling leukemia. Adam speaks openly about the gut-wrenching struggle his family endured for three years of life-threatening illness and how God met them in their hours of need--even when it wasn't in the ways they wanted. And, along with his own story, Adam takes readers through the story of Job, unpacking insights about God's character, his love, and how we can stay connected to him even during seasons of pain. Both inspiring and comforting, Hope When Life Unravels invites us to draw closer to a God who is often active in our lives in times when we have trouble seeing him the most. |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Determined - Women's Bible Study Participant Workbook Heather M. Dixon, 2019-04-02 Live intentionally and embrace abundant life! Imagine waking up every single day convinced that the twenty-four hours ahead of you are a precious gift to be used wisely. Now imagine that you know exactly how to spend them to be a force for God’s good. All too often we wander through life without appreciating the gift of every moment we’ve been given. The result? An unsatisfying life, missed opportunities to experience the joy of being in sync with God, and days marked with apathy instead of passion. Our time on earth is measured. We should want to make every moment count—not only because we aren’t guaranteed the next one, but also because this is exactly how our Savior spent His time here. How, then, do we walk out unwavering joy-filled faith every day, determined to let go of the things that keep us from experiencing abundant life and fulfilling the plans God has for us? The answers are found in following the footsteps of the One who lived fully, because He was determined that we might do the same. In this six-week study of Luke, we will follow the life and ministry of Jesus as we consider the choices He made on His way to the cross. We’ll intimately connect with a Savior who remained laser-focused on His mission to love the world. In return, we’ll receive a model for intentional living that we can replicate to ensure we are living each day to the fullest and making a difference for God’s kingdom. And together we’ll determine to embrace the abundant life we are promised in Jesus. The participant workbook includes five days of lessons for each week, combining study of Scripture with personal reflection, application, and prayer. It’s time to stop wandering and start living! |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Steps to Personal Revival Helmut HAUBEIL, 2020-03-17 On August 14, 2011, when I was in Kandergrund in the Bernese Highlands in Switzerland an important connection became very clear to me. I recognized a spiritual cause for why we are losing part of our youth. I was very shocked. I thought of my children and grandchildren. Since then I have been intensively occupied with this subject. Now I believe that the same spiritual cause is behind many of our problems; specifically the personal problems, in the local churches and the world-wide church. It is the lack of the Holy Spirit. If this is the cause, then we should urgently address this issue. If the cause can be eliminated or considerably reduced, then many problems will become superfluous or will be resolved. |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Soul to Sole Carolyn Evaughn Knowles, 2014-06-13 Throughout your life, you will try on many different types of shoes, only choosing to wear some of them. Soul to Sole: The Views from the Shoes presents shoe analogies that inspire you to find the shoe that fits. It encourages you to find the shoe that makes you feel comfortable and that supports the different seasons of your life. A spiritual and physical walk through life, Soul to Sole provides insight into the hearts and souls of several women as they discuss the life experiences that have made them into the women they are today. It also shares the perspectives of three women from three different generations: one from the Traditionalist Generation (19001945); one from the Baby Boomer Generation (19461964); and one from the Millennial Generation (19812000). The stories describe a range of experiences from women who have traveled different roads, narrating how they navigated the paths that led to their current stations. They highlight the importance of pursuing ones passion and discovering ones purpose and talents. Theirs are stories that show where love abounded and life unfolded; where determination persisted and success prevailed; and where the distance was run and the victory won. Through it all, they learned how to lean and depend on God. |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Trusting God in the Darkness Christopher Ash, 2021-04-07 It's easy for us to trust God when life is going well. But when suffering comes, trusting God's goodness, his attentiveness to what's going on in the world, and his justice becomes far more difficult. In times of intense suffering, many of us ask, Why does God allow these things to happen? In the Bible, Job is known for facing intense personal suffering. Yet, upon closer examination, we find the book of Job is about more than just Job's calamities; it's a story about God and his relationship to Christ and his people in their suffering. In this helpful guide, Christopher Ash helps us explore the question, Where is God in the midst of suffering? As we read, meditate, and pray through the book of Job, we will find assurance that God will be with us in Christ through every season and trial. |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Soulzer P.I. Sabbathi, 2014-04 Is it your aim to grow in God? Let it grow, as a small flame grows into a fire (2 Timothy 1:6, NCV). Is your soul prospering in the Lord? The apostle John wishes his readers: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers (3 John 2). Your spiritual growth is a choice. Soulzer fortifies every Christian who is truly fond of progressing in Christlike character by imitating Him even when no one is watching. To become a man after God's own heart -- Detach yourself from the evil desires of the world After this self-denial - sanctify the Lord God in your hearts As you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him By God's power we live and move and exist Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you Realize the Lord by feeling His presence with you Become a temple of God as the Spirit of God dwells in you And let the people around you taste the fruit of the Spirit Keep on growing into the whole measure of all the fullness of Christ and Continue your soul soldiering until Christ is formed in you. Jesus said, I have conquered the world! (John 16:33, NRSV). A Christian is a lifelong fighter. Everyone who has been fathered by God conquers the world. This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: our faith (1 John 5:4, NET). Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37). Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ (2 Corinthians 2:14). As the victory is from the Lord (Proverbs 21:31, NET) you need to fight against sin (Hebrews 12:4, BBE), and keep on conquering the D-evil. This is a conquerable combat. You can certainly accomplish a victory over sin for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Practice Christliness and become a Christ at heart! |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Waiting on God Wayne Stiles, 2015-08-11 We have all experienced a disconnect between God's promises to us and our everyday reality. We wait, without understanding why. We want to know God's plan so that we can trust it--but God so often hides his plan so that we will trust him. What can we do in the meantime as we are waiting for an answer, a change, or a miracle? With deep compassion, Wayne Stiles helps readers understand why God makes them wait. Unpacking the Old Testament story of Joseph, Stiles shows readers how to find comfort and opportunity in the time between God's promises and his answers, revealing the perspective-altering truth that sometimes when we think we are waiting on God, he is actually waiting on us. Anyone who has felt a disconnect between God's promises and their reality, who doesn't know what God wants them to do next, or who struggles with the brokenness of their world will find in Wayne Stiles a wise and trustworthy guide to finding peace in the pauses. |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: God and the System Dr. Feridoun Shawn Shahmoradian, 2017-07-11 An astoundingly informative and deeply moving work, God and the System is absorbingly intense, with a stunningly descriptive narrative that chronicles the terrifying condition of huge masses of the Earths inhabitants, where billions have to die every day to live. The book, God and the System, brilliantly anatomizes the corporate villains motives and divulges the clandestine behaviors of the moguls of our times. Worldwide financial tyrants have managed to choke off and control more than 90 percent of the global resources through force and collusion (to manifest fear, panic, and uncertainty), disseminating tears of silence, hopelessness, and complacency. Since the corporate monarchs relentlessly drool to manufacture abstract conditions to certify themselves as the sole profiteers of this hodgepodge we call living, and for ratifying the status quo as the corporate empires have managed to silence the actual landlords, the people, God and the System wisely nudges the reader and reveals beastly occasions that are conducive to human demise, questioning why, amidst all the light, we cannot see the real truth. |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Mercy for Today Jonathan Parnell, 2020-01-07 You cannot make it without God’s mercy. Do we just need God’s grace in dark and shameful moments? Are prayers for mercy only for those times when we really mess up? Jonathan Parnell says we need God’s mercy all the time. In fact, contrary to many church cultures, Parnell shows that asking God for mercy should be as regular as asking God for our daily bread. There’s no doubt that David was in a terrible predicament when he first prayed the words of Psalm 51. It was a dark and shameful moment in the Bible, and one so dark and shameful it seldom feels relevant to us today. But David’s most desperate prayer is really a prayer for all of us—and not just for our worst moments, but for our every moment. In these pages, you'll discover: how to pray a daily, memorable prayer derived from Psalm 51 how to practice daily repentance and soul care how to pursue God and experience his joy in the Christian life This is God’s mercy, and it’s Mercy for Today. |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Gifts of the Dark Wood Rev. Eric Elnes, 2015-09-01 Have you left the faith you used to have but don’t know what to move toward? When you can’t see the road ahead, do you feel lost and alone? Do you wish you had a group of companions willing to wander with you? Welcome to the Dark Wood. As you journey through the unknown, you may feel tempted, lost, and uncertain. Though commonly feared and avoided, these feelings of uncertainty can be your greatest assets on this journey because it is in uncertainty that we probe, question, and discover. According to the ancients, you don’t need to be a saint or spiritual master to experience profound awakening and live with God’s presence and guidance. You need only to wander. In clear and lucid prose that combines the heart of a mystic, the soul of a poet, and the mind of a biblical scholar, Dr. Eric Elnes demystifies the seven gifts bestowed in the Dark Wood: the gifts of uncertainty, emptiness, being thunderstruck, getting lost, temptation, disappearing, and the gift of misfits. This is a book for anyone who feels awkward in their search for God, anyone who seeks to find holiness amid their holy mess, and anyone who prefers practicality to piety when it comes to finding their place in this world. |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Don't Look at Me and Judge Barbara Dykes, 2012-07 This life changing message was inspired by the many individuals I interviewed who told me that they didn't enter a church building because they felt like individuals would judge them because they were not perfect. It was devastating to me to know that we have so many spiritually blinded individuals in church who are perishing for a lack of knowledge of God's Word and being so spiritually blind that we can not see the speck in their own eye but they think they have the ability to judge another. It is such a sad mission to sit in a church building for 50 or 60 years but to get to the gate and God says I never knew you because you have caused lost souls to remain bound in their chains; because of your spiritual righteousness. |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Pushing Boundaries: Students Remember 30 Years of Wilderness Challenge Jerry Barker, Ed.D., 2014-08-21 They were mostly inexperienced campers, raising their hands to take a big risk, exchanging their comfortable lives for a difficult week of mountaineering. Over 135 college students and alumni tell stories and share memories of teamwork and testing, disappointment and triumph. They pushed their limits, believed in themselves, and took time for personal reflection. Sometimes pain -- sore muscles, altitude sickness, and frozen toes -- seemed insurmountable. Yet in memory, overcoming physical challenges remains a source of great satisfaction. Persisting when they most want to quit teaches young people to think big. Exhaustion and discomfort can be dispelled by camaraderie and humility. In their futures, finding solutions to tough problems will require truly exceptional leadership. Whether they are called to lead, asked to lead, or forced to lead, all who dared those summits will be better prepared to meet any challenge they will face. |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Spiritual Interpretations Roosevelt Jackson, 2014-11-26 The reason why readers would be so interested is because of the spirituality: Learning the spiritual side of life, how good God really is, and how to include the word of God into the equation; in every area of their lives, whether it be financially, physically, mentally, by faith, in which we walk by: Faith is simply believing that God is our source, and not the world economy. To understand that God has given us very things that we need to accommodate us in this life. Most things, we can do for ourselves because of the abilities that God has bestowed upon us; but the Heavenly things, we have to declare and decree from Heaven, such as when we pray; whatsoever we pray for, believe that we already received them, and then you will have them. You have to trust God first, before you receive whatever it is that you ask for in Jesus name. It is always have to be in Jesus name, if not in Jesus name, then you might have a delay, you see, that's how the gospel works. Jesus died for us to have the things that we are so deserving of, all we have to do is believe it, declare it, and decree it, and it shall be given to us. But, if you dont spend time in the word of God, then you have no clue what to expect, you have no knowledge of all the promises that God said yes to; there is over seventy seven hundred promises in the Bible that God said yes to, we just have to believe, and say yes to them in order to receive the promises of God; you see, it's simple when you know the word of God for your lives. I've study the word of God for the last ten years of my life. So I am a witness to the fact. And here's another fact, I use to wake up every morning with back pain, I would stumble to my feet, but, once I'd reach for my bible and started to read it, before I could get through the first paragraph the pain had vanished. Once I'd learn how to pray and study the bible, I haven't taken a pain pill since February of 2010. I would like for everyone to experience the goodness of God and the example of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. If only I knew back then, what I know now, I would have been committed myself to Jesus. I just pray that everyone will learn to give their lives over to Jesus. So that's how much I think that my book will be an inspiration to others. So yes, I am completely satisfied with my work, so I approve it in every way for publishing. I thanked God, for giving me the strength to endure the last two and a half years to complete this book; it has been a blessing and honor to credit this book to God Almighty. My way of showing appreciation for all that God has done for me in my life. So there you have it. Thanks for the word, Roosevelt Jackson. Bless you all. In Jesus name. Until next time. |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Momma, You Are Loved Kimberly Sexton, 2021-04-12 Ever since the birth of my firstborn, Emma, I have come to taste a love from God that I had never known before. This newfound love I experienced filled me with a new desire to help all mommas know how truly loved they are-loved by the Highest King and worthy of raising His children that He gave us as an inheritance. Two years ago, I started writing devotions that sparked from my taste in God's love, which consisted of the everyday moments I experienced with my daughter. While writing, I became pregnant with my son, Asher; and shortly after, the unimaginable happened. My firstborn, the daughter who helped me taste God's love, became diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Now, a new trial tested my faith in God's love and everything I had been writing about.Soon, my writings became a journey where I desperately needed to stay wrapped up in God's love-a deeper calling into His grace by finding Him in the suffering. A new question arose from the pain, Do I really know God's love? I felt as if I could hear God speaking into my heart, You had a taste of my love, but you don't truly understand how great My love is. A love that I had to learn to take root in, discovering one day at a time by ridding myself of my fleshly nature and filling myself up with His word.Momma, I invite you to take this forty-day journey with me through real-life momma moments where God's love carried me through. May you allow me into your day and help you feel God wrapping you up into His strong arms. I pray my writings and testimonies will speak life to your heart and open your soul to become rooted in His love. |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Women Worshipping God While Wounded Demetris Mayberry Roberts, 2015-11-19 I greet you in the name of our Lord. God had a plan for me. Though I pondered, he still made preparations and gives confirmation. I had no idea where or how to start, but God already had it in his plan. He had given me the tools; I just needed to open the toolbox. I found my pen (screwdriver) and the hammer (scriptures). Women Worshipping God While Wounded was birth through women that have been through the storm and came out with fascinating, stimulating, and encouraging testimonies and stories of purpose. Its not about me or you, but its his plan that will prevail. No matter what your leaking issues are (spiritual warfare, the marriage on the verge of breaking up, that man that left you, the friend that looked the other way, being the victim), give them to God. Dont give up on your dreams, goals, or visions, and when God brings you out, share the good news. Get some new friends (Deborah, a renowned prophetess and judge, the woman God used, or Esther, the woman who saved the Jews). Your background does not determine what God can do with you. God never forgets our labor of love (like Ruth, who was loyal to Naomi and faithful to God). Dont live your life as the world turns on the edge of night. May the grace of God push you into your next destiny. |

don't ask god to guide your footsteps: Misreading Scripture with Individualist Eyes E. Randolph Richards, Richard James, 2020-10-13 The Bible was written within collectivist cultures, and it's easy for Westerners to misinterpret—or miss—important elements. Combining the expertise of a biblical scholar and a missionary practitioner, this essential guidebook explores the deep social structures of the ancient Mediterranean, stripping away individualist assumptions and helping us read the Bible better. |
don't ask god to guide your footsteps: You Are What You Love James K. A. Smith, 2016-03-29 You are what you love. But you might not love what you think. In this book, award-winning author James K. A. Smith shows that who and what we worship fundamentally shape our hearts. And while we desire to shape culture, we are not often aware of how culture shapes us. We might not realize the ways our hearts are being taught to love rival gods instead of the One for whom we were made. Smith helps readers recognize the formative power of culture and the transformative possibilities of Christian practices. He explains that worship is the imagination station that incubates our loves and longings so that our cultural endeavors are indexed toward God and his kingdom. This is why the church and worshiping in a local community of believers should be the hub and heart of Christian formation and discipleship. Following the publication of his influential work Desiring the Kingdom, Smith received numerous requests from pastors and leaders for a more accessible version of that book's content. No mere abridgment, this new book draws on years of Smith's popular presentations on the ideas in Desiring the Kingdom to offer a fresh, bottom-up rearticulation. The author creatively uses film, literature, and music illustrations to engage readers and includes new material on marriage, family, youth ministry, and faith and work. He also suggests individual and communal practices for shaping the Christian life. |
