This apologetics study for upper elementary children delves into issues regarding the Bible, God, sin, dinosaurs, the Flood of Noah, salvation, astronomy, and more, and is all based on actual questions asked by kids. Answers are important. If children aren't given answers to their questions about the Bible and the history it reveals, they cannot defend their faith against a fallen world. The course highlights the unique collection of question-answer books from Ken Ham and the creative team at Answers in Genesis to meet this need and helps kids focus on Scripture memorization and faith-building truth. The Bible verses quoted in the Answers Book for Kids series are from the New King James Version, though kids are encouraged to write out their daily verses in the version they use each day. The Answers Book for Kids 1: The story of Creation and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden are familiar Bible stories. apologetics bible study pdf: Every Believer Confident Mark J. Farnham, 2021-02-06 For the average Christian who longs to share their faith effectively but doesn't know where to begin, Every Believer Confident is the ultimate guidebook. All believers are called to make disciples and give an answer when objections are raised against the faith. Most Christians want to share and defend their beliefs, but they often feel ill-equipped. They desire to reach friends, family, coworkers, and classmates with the good news of Jesus Christ, but lack confidence and skill. They want to be like Jesus and effectively engage the lost with the powerful truth of the gospel. They just don't know how. What's needed is a way to simplify apologetics and make it accessible to the average church member who will never study philosophy or science. If every church member was indeed a skilled evangelist, churches would not have to depend on come-and-see events to reach the community, because every member would be practicing the go-and-tell approach Scripture assumes. Every Believer Confident: Apologetics for the Ordinary Christian simplifies the basic principles of apologetics and provides effective strategies for use in actual encounters with unbelievers. It provides a structure whereby any Christian can engage anyone they meet, move the conversation to spiritual matters, answer objections raised against the Christian faith, and present the gospel of Christ in all its glory and rationality. |

apologetics bible study pdf: Five Views on Apologetics Zondervan,, 2010-06-01 Of the most common approaches to apologetics, which is most effective? The goal of apologetics is to persuasively defend Christianity against charges of falsehood, inconsistency, or credulity. It's an intellectual discipline that serves to bolster the faith of Christian believers and to aid the task of evangelism, but are some methods more effective than others? Five Views on Apologetics examines the how-to of apologetics, putting five prominent techniques under the microscope: Classical – represented by William Lane Craig Evidential – represented by Gary Habermas Cumulative Case – represented by Paul D. Feinberg Presuppositional – represented by John M. Frame Reformed Epistemology – represented by Kelly James Clark Offering a forum for presentation, critique, and defense, this book allows the contributors for the different viewpoints to respond to the others. Your own informed conclusions can then guide you as you meet the questions of a needy world with the claims of the gospel. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion. |
apologetics bible study pdf: In Defense of the Bible Steven B. Cowan, Terry L. Wilder, 2018-11-26 In Defense of the Bible gathers exceptional articles by accomplished scholars (Paul Copan, William A. Dembski, Mary Jo Sharp, Darrell L. Bock, etc.), addressing and responding to all of the major contemporary challenges to the divine inspiration and authority of Scripture. The book begins by looking at philosophical and methodological challenges to the Bible—questions about whether or not it is logically possible for God to communicate verbally with human beings; what it means to say the Bible is true in response to postmodern concerns about the nature of truth; defending the clarity of Scripture against historical skepticism and relativism. Contributors also explore textual and historical challenges—charges made by Muslims, Mormons, and skeptics that the Bible has been corrupted beyond repair; questions about the authorship of certain biblical books; allegations that the Bible borrows from pagan myths; the historical reliability of the Old and New Testaments. Final chapters take on ethical, scientific, and theological challenges— demonstrating the Bible’s moral integrity regarding the topics of slavery and sexism; harmonizing exegetical and theological conclusions with the findings of science; addressing accusations that the Christian canon is the result of political and theological manipulation; ultimately defending the Bible as not simply historically reliable and consistent, but in fact the Word of God. |

apologetics bible study pdf: Smooth Stones Joe Coffey, 2011-06 Street-level apologetics for everyday Christians. This book was written for two reasons: First, too many people think believing in Christianity means blind faith, against all evidence, the way a child believes in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Second, every few years a new book intended to undermine Christianity becomes a best seller and shakes the faith of many. Yet the arguments in these books are rarely compelling. Jesus likened faith in God to a house built on a foundation. If built on sand, storms of doubt will tear the house apart. But if we build on a solid foundation, we will stand. In these pages, Joe Coffey inspects our foundation -- so we can know why we believe, and so we can speak of our faith to others with greater confidence and clarity. The conclusion? The Christian faith is built on a tremendous amount of credible evidence. You don't need to be a scientist, an historian, an archeologist, or a philosopher to understand why belief in Jesus makes perfect sense. Think of the last time an unbeliever asked you a seemingly unanswerable question as a way of supporting their unbelief. Did you feel thwarted in your attempt to give an account for the hope that is in you? Smooth Stones answers six of the toughest of these questions: How do you know God exists? How can you be sure the Bible is authentic and true? If God exists, why is there evil and suffering? Doesn't science disprove the Bible? Aren't all religions the same? How can you be sure the claims of Christ are true? Joe Coffey writes in a style that is clear, winsome, and compelling. Smooth Stones will equip you with answers to some of the toughest apologetics questions a Christian can face. There is plenty of evidence to support the claims of Christianity. Smooth Stones puts much of that evidence at your fingertips and offers practical guidelines for how to unpack it in ways that are gentle and reverent. |

apologetics bible study pdf: Mere Apologetics Alister E. McGrath, 2012-01-01 Throughout history there have been great and articulate defenders of the faith, from Augustine and Aquinas to Jonathan Edwards, G. K. Chesterton, Francis Schaeffer, and C. S. Lewis. But with new challenges comes the need for a fresh apologetic that specifically addresses the arguments levied against faith in our time of scientific atheism and skepticism. In the spirit of C. S. Lewis's Mere Christianity, Alister McGrath's Mere Apologetics seeks to equip readers to engage gracefully and intelligently with the challenges facing the faith today while drawing appropriately on the wisdom of the past. Rather than supplying the fine detail of every apologetic issue in order to win arguments, Mere Apologetics teaches a method that appeals not only to the mind but also to the heart and the imagination. This highly accessible, easy-to-read book is perfect for pastors, teachers, students, and lay people who want to speak clearly and lovingly to the issues that confront people of faith today. |

apologetics bible study pdf: Christian Ethics (Revised Edition) Wayne Grudem, 2024-09-17 What Does the Bible Teach about How to Live in Today's World? How should Christians live when the surrounding culture is increasingly hostile to Christian moral values? Granted, the Bible is our guide—but how can we know if we are interpreting it rightly with regard to ethical questions about wealth and poverty, marriage and divorce, birth control, abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, ethical business practices, environmental stewardship, and dozens of other issues? And on a very practical level, how can we know God's will in the ordinary decisions of life? To address questions like these, Wayne Grudem, author of the bestselling book Systematic Theology, draws on 40 years of teaching classes in ethics to write this wide-ranging introduction to biblical moral reasoning, organized according to the structure of the Ten Commandments. He issues a challenging call for Christians to live lives of personal holiness and offers a vision of the Christian life that is full of joy and blessing through living each day in a way that is pleasing to God. Isn’t Claiming Truth Intolerant? Is the Bible Anti-Science? Summit Ministries’ half century of teaching, this first volume of the Understanding the Times Series is your definitive resource for deepening and defending your faith. It’s a required resource for every Christian’s bookshelf. |
apologetics bible study pdf: Is Jesus the Only Savior? Ronald H. Nash, 2010-08-10 A compelling and urgent case for Jesus Christ as the one and only way to salvation. Today, professing that Jesus Christ is the only way to approach God and receive his salvation may seem to some like a form of intolerance or arrogance. A growing number of Christian intellectuals, pastors, and leaders are favoring a more inclusive view of a person's path to salvation. But what does this mean in practice? Are there biblical or theological means of defending inclusivism or pluralism, or do these views simply pay tribute to modern ethical standards? The fact is that unity among Christians on this fundamental issue has disappeared. Many people of faith choose among three fundamentally different answers to the question, Is Jesus the only Savior? Stated succinctly, these answers are: No! (Pluralism) Yes, but... (Inclusivism) Yes, period! (Exclusivism) In Is Jesus the Only Savior?, Ronald Nash explores the divergent views of pluralism and inclusivism in depth, laying out the reasoning, history, and major supporters behind them; and making a resounding case for exclusivism based on firm theological standards. Christians of all walks of life will find their faith in Christ affirmed and strengthened by this vital treatise, written in accessible terms and a readable style. |

Joseph Clifford Fenton, a highly respected author, professor, and theologian of the twentieth century. “This book appeared in 1942 under the rather unimposing title We Stand with Christ: an Essay in Catholic Apologetics. apologetics bible study pdf: Mind and Cosmos Thomas Nagel, 2012-11-22 The modern materialist approach to life has conspicuously failed to explain such central mind-related features of our world as consciousness, intentionality, meaning, and value. This failure to account for something so integral to nature as mind, argues philosopher Thomas Nagel, is a major problem, threatening to unravel the entire naturalistic world picture, extending to biology, evolutionary theory, and cosmology. Since minds are features of biological systems that have developed through evolution, the standard materialist version of evolutionary biology is fundamentally incomplete. And the cosmological history that led to the origin of life and the coming into existence of the conditions for evolution cannot be a merely materialist history, either. An adequate conception of nature would have to explain the appearance in the universe of materially irreducible conscious minds, as such. Nagel's skepticism is not based on religious belief or on a belief in any definite alternative. In Mind and Cosmos, he does suggest that if the materialist account is wrong, then principles of a different kind may also be at work in the history of nature, principles of the growth of order that are in their logical form teleological rather than mechanistic. In spite of the great achievements of the physical sciences, reductive materialism is a world view ripe for displacement. Nagel shows that to recognize its limits is the first step in looking for alternatives, or at least in being open to their possibility. |
