Zelley, 2010-04-07 Applying Communication Theory for Professional Life: A Practical Introduction, Second Edition is the first communication theory textbook to provide practical material for career-oriented students. The inclusion and analysis of real-world case studies illustrate the application of theory in a variety of professional settings. Particular emphasis is placed on theories of intrapersonal communication, interpersonal interaction, intercultural encounters, persuasion, leadership, group communication, organizational behavior, and mass communication.

as the oic what communication requirements: Improving Disaster Management National Research Council, Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences, Computer Science and Telecommunications Board, Committee on Using Information Technology to Enhance Disaster Management, 2007-06-01 Information technology (IT) has the potential to play a critical role in managing natural and human-made disasters. Damage to communications infrastructure, along with other communications problems exacerbated the difficulties in carrying out response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina. To assist government planning in this area, the Congress, in the E-government Act of 2002, directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to request the NRC to conduct a study on the application of IT to disaster management. This report characterizes disaster management providing a framework for considering the range and nature of information and communication needs; presents a vision of the potential for IT to improve disaster management; provides an analysis of structural, organizational, and other non-technical barriers to the acquisition, adoption, and effective use of IT in disaster; and offers an outline of a research program aimed at strengthening IT-enabled capabilities for disaster management.
as the oic what communication requirements: An Ethical Approach to Anti-Money Laundering Regulations: A Framework for Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Countries Ender Tosun, 2024-04-20 This study presents a new ethical framework for anti-money laundering (AML) that can be possible by combining Islamic system and experience, that offers a holistic, consistent, and comprehensive framework in the fight against money laundering with the global experience in this field. Although today, there are many standards and units against crimes through the fight against money laundering, this struggle has not been fully integrated with the ontological reality of the human beings and their ethical system. The contemporary world does not say much in the context of the fight against money laundering, whether good and evil are merely epiphenomenal feelings or whether they are strongly tied to a fundamental reality. As a natural consequence of this, contemporary anti-money laundering activities are mainly limited to law enforcement and intelligence activities; and this structure cannot present a holistic framework in terms of combating money laundering and thus crime by using instruments in fields that concern all aspects of life, such as economic policies, moral teaching, and academic studies. This study demonstrates how Islam provides a framework for combating money laundering, integrating the intellectual, economic, financial, ethical, and other related fields, and based on the original and ontological reality of man. To achieve this objective, the study delves into secondary literature, conducts a survey involving professionals in the field of anti-money laundering (AML), and performs a gap analysis comparing the modern AML framework with the Islamic ethical system. It also identifies areas where potential improvements can be made, where both the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries and other countries can support each other in reaching a higher level in the fight against money laundering. Based on these analyses, the study proposes a new framework in the fight against money laundering and concludes that both OIC and non-OIC countries have a lot to learn from each other and from the core teachings of Islam.

as the oic what communication requirements: Wireless Crime and Forensic Investigation Gregory Kipper, 2007-02-26 Security is always a concern with any new technology. When we think security we typically think of stopping an attacker from breaking in or gaining access. From short text messaging to investigating war, this book explores all aspects of wireless technology, including how it is used in daily life and how it might be used in the future. It provides a one-stop resource on the types of wireless crimes that are being committed and the forensic investigation techniques that are used for wireless devices and wireless networks. The author provides a solid understanding of modern wireless technologies, wireless security techniques, and wireless crime techniques, and shows how to conduct forensic analysis on wireless devices and networks. Each chapter, while part of a greater whole, is self-contained for quick comprehension.
