It lasted from 1935 -1945 and in the 100 million people who were directly involved in the war efforts, as many as 85 million were dead. Death due to starvation, mass suicides, inhuman massacres, deadly pandemics, and genocides were rampant. For the first time, atomic bombs were used for mass killing. Despite the tragic and devastating nature of the war, it has nonetheless given us many heroes who with their remarkable feats of bravura have left the entire humanity in awe. War heroes hold a special and unique place in our hearts. Ben L Salomon was a war hero in every sense of the word. When the Banzai charged at his hospital, he repelled them off single-handedly, killing 98 of them with a machine gun. When Dr. Robert West first heard of the legendary Ben Solomon, he knew the man deserved much more and he was destined to get him his due at the earliest. But Dr. West knew it was a Sisyphean task. He will have to pull all strings possible to get the kind of recognition and reward for a man who single-handedly fought off the Japanese men who had come all guns blazing to decimate the American platoons. The first time Dr. West heard of Salomon’s incredible story was in 1997, more than five decades after Salomon’s death. It was already too late, and many argued that justice delayed was justice denied, but Dr. West begged to differ. He believed that it was never too late to tell an incredibly remarkable story of bravery, unwavering patriotism, and selfless service to the United States of America. Who was Dr. Salomon?
