financial declaration for divorce: The 10 Stupidest Mistakes Men Make When Facing Divorce Joseph Cordell, 2010-12-07 The Knowledge Every Man Needs for a Successful Divorce Each year 500,000 men will face divorce, and most of them make at least one crucial—and often irreversible—mistake. These errors might seem minor, such as moving out while things get sorted out, or thinking of “temporary” orders as being truly temporary. But when they get to court, these men discover they have put themselves in a terrible position. They may have to give up their house, pay impossibly high alimony, or even lose custody. You could be one of these men. But you don’t have to be. Joseph Cordell, the founder of the nation’s largest law firm focusing on men’s divorce and the creator of the Dads Divorce website, has seen the consequences of the mistakes men make. Drawing upon the huge number of cases that Cordell & Cordell has handled, this book identifies the 10 most common mistakes that end up hurting men in divorce. Cordell demystifies the divorce process, explains what judges consider in making their final decisions, and lays out a road map for positive actions men can take to achieve the best possible outcome. No man should face divorce without this book. |
financial declaration for divorce: The 48 Laws of Power Robert Greene, 2023-10-31 Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this multi-million-copy New York Times bestseller is the definitive manual for anyone interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control – from the author of The Laws of Human Nature. In the book that People magazine proclaimed “beguiling” and “fascinating,” Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum. Some laws teach the need for prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), others teach the value of confidence (“Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness”), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (“Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally”). Every law, though, has one thing in common: an interest in total domination. In a bold and arresting two-color package, The 48 Laws of Power is ideal whether your aim is conquest, self-defense, or simply to understand the rules of the game. |

financial declaration for divorce: Drafting Prenuptial Agreements Gary N. Skoloff, Richard H. Singer, Ronald L. Brown, 1995-12-31 Prenuptial agreements have exploded over the past 20 years, not only among celebrities, but also for all types of people who desire to protect, manage, or enhance their personal, family, or business assets against foreseen and unforeseen circumstances. Attorneys have been assigned the task of cutting through a morass of issues to create agreements that achieve the goals of their clients while meeting complex, and often subtle, legal requirements. Drafting Prenuptial Agreements is the first guidebook ever to cover this growing area of family law. Written by Gary N. Skoloff and Richard H. Singer, Jr., Skoloff and& Wolfe, Livingston NJ, and Ronald L. Brown, Editor, American Journal of Family Law, Aspen Publishers, Drafting Prenuptial Agreements presents a pragmatic approach to preparing successful agreements quickly and effectively in any situation by grouping together and identifying the common areas that need to be addressed. The authors guide you through planning the agreement and the types of issues to discuss with different clients. This thoughtful organization gives you easy access to the tools you need to clearly present the range of choices to be addressed in each type of agreement and situation. Five sample agreements create broad groupings of issues which let you quickly zero in on the concerns parties at specific stages of life and affluence are most likely to want covered by their prenuptial agreement: YOUNG-YOUNG, EQUAL ASSETSand—For young people in the early stages of promising careers, where each has some assets and wants to protect these, as well as their careers, as separate property. YOUNG-YOUNG, DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETSand—For people of middle age or younger, where one already has, or is likely to acquire, substantial assets, and wants to protect these assets as separate property, while reasonably providing for the needs of the marriage, as well as the spouse and any children upon divorce. YOUNG-OLD, DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETSand—For a couple with a large age disparity, where the older party has substantial wealth which he or she wants to preserve for his or her estate, and also wants to provide for disability or incapacity. OLD-OLD, DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETSand—For an elderly couple, where one party has substantially fewer assets than the other, yet is comfortable, and where both want to protect their separate property, provide for a comfortable lifestyle during the marriage and reasonably provide for the spouse with fewer assets upon death or divorce. OLD-OLD, EQUAL ASSETSand—For older parties with similar assets who want to protect their property as separate, yet provide an arrangement by which they can live commensurate with their resources. Drafting Prenuptial Agreements includes a CD-ROM with sample agreements and hundreds of time-saving clauses! |
financial declaration for divorce: Red Notice Bill Browder, 2015-02-03 Freezing Order, the follow-up to Red Notice, is available now! “[Red Notice] does for investing in Russia and the former Soviet Union what Liar’s Poker did for our understanding of Salomon Brothers, Wall Street, and the mortgage-backed securities business in the 1980s. Browder’s business saga meshes well with the story of corruption and murder in Vladimir Putin’s Russia, making Red Notice an early candidate for any list of the year’s best books” (Fortune). “Part John Grisham-like thriller, part business and political memoir.” —The New York Times This is a story about an accidental activist. Bill Browder started out his adult life as the Wall Street maverick whose instincts led him to Russia just after the breakup of the Soviet Union, where he made his fortune. Along the way he exposed corruption, and when he did, he barely escaped with his life. His Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky wasn’t so lucky: he ended up in jail, where he was tortured to death. That changed Browder forever. He saw the murderous heart of the Putin regime and has spent the last half decade on a campaign to expose it. Because of that, he became Putin’s number one enemy, especially after Browder succeeded in having a law passed in the United States—The Magnitsky Act—that punishes a list of Russians implicated in the lawyer’s murder. Putin famously retaliated with a law that bans Americans from adopting Russian orphans. A financial caper, a crime thriller, and a political crusade, Red Notice is the story of one man taking on overpowering odds to change the world, and also the story of how, without intending to, he found meaning in his life. |

financial declaration for divorce: United States Code United States, 2013 The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States of America. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second Session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First Session, enacted between January 2, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited U.S.C. 2012 ed. As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 U.S.C. 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office--Preface. |

financial declaration for divorce: Professional Responsibility Nathan M. Crystal, 2019-10-30 Known for helping students develop the ability to make sound judgments and to develop a philosophy of lawyering, the concise Professional Responsibility: Problems of Practice and the Profession, Seventh Edition, is adaptable to a host of teaching styles. Scores of realistic problems call on students to develop a cogent philosophy of lawyering as they master basic concepts and prepare for the MPRE. Modular, flexible organization allows professors to adapt the material to a variety of courses and clinical programs. In particular, the book is structured to enable instructors to present the materials doctrinally or by area of practice. New to the Seventh Edition: New author Grace Giesel (Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law) has joined the book. Throughout the book the authors have inserted Rule Reviews. A Rule Review is a set of questions designed to walk the students through the important facets of the Model Rule of Professional Conduct at issue. The Rule Reviews are designed to ensure the students review and thus capture the parameters of the reviewed rules. The authors provide answers to the questions at the back of the book, so the students can self-assess their learning. The Rule Reviews are in addition to the Chapter Assessment Questions that follow each chapter. The authors have revised this edition to present the textual material with more headings and thus in smaller blocks of narrative. This change is intended to assist students in sorting and organizing the material as they learn and to assist instructors in directing the class discussion. The book has been updated to include: All recent changes to the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, including the ABA’s substantial revision of the advertising rules. Relevant recent ABA Formal Opinions. The book has been revised to include recent developments such as: The legal industry’s renewed focus on sexual harassment and discrimination, in part a result of the #MeToo movement (Ch. 8). Alternate litigation funding (Ch. 2). Advance Waivers (Ch. 4). The effect of the presence of third parties on the attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine (Ch. 3). Recent developments regarding ineffective assistance of counsel (Ch. 2). Recent developments regarding technology (Ch. 3). The authors have attempted to make the book as relevant to the students of 2020 as possible. To that end, they include problems and material that are up-to-date and, in some cases, “ripped from the headlines,” such as: Material about the involvement of David Boies in the Theranos debacle. An excerpt of Michael Cohen’s statement to the court before sentencing. Problem 3-5 now deals with the threat and response of a law firm to cyberattack. Professors and students will benefit from: Realistic problems that develop students’ ability to make sound judgments. Emphasis on guiding students to articulate a cogent philosophy of lawyering. Innovative, flexible organization suited to a variety of courses and clinical programs. Organized by major doctrinal concepts, such as confidentiality and conflicts of interest. Offers alternative organization by area of practice. Modular organization for professor choice. Manageable length. Multiple choice assessment questions and answers located at the end of each chapter to prepare students for the MPRE. |
