free security officer training: The Violence-Free Workplace Andrew Tufano, 2020-10-28 Organizations are ethically, morally, and legally required to maintain safe workplaces that protects employees, visitors and anyone who frequents their establishments. But why do organizations that employee uniformed security personnel as part of their overall workplace violence prevention program still struggle to create and maintain the safest possible workplaces? To meet these obligations organizations often employ uniformed security officers to deter, observe, and report criminal behavior, and in some contexts, they physically interact with dangerous individuals to protect employees, consumers and visitors from violent behaviors. Unfortunately, many organizations don’t utilize their security personnel to their fullest potential and organizational and community members continue to be victims of workplace violence. This book identifies the flawed principles, policies and personnel decisions that organizations use, and it provides practical solutions to address them. The book covers two major themes: the misapplication of law enforcement community safety principles to private, free-market businesses and the use of risk aversive philosophies to their security officer’s activities. This book covers the principles, policies and personnel necessary for maximizing the effectiveness of uniformed security personnel to successfully mitigate potential workplace violence and create and maintain safe organizations. There is a strong need for this book since workplace violence prevention has taken on a new focus due to increases in workplace violence incidents and new laws requiring organizations to take a more serious approach to workplace violence prevention. The healthcare and campus markets are most affected by these laws and are under public scrutiny because of their vulnerable populations. These two markets combined employ the most non-contract, propriety private security personnel in the country. Both markets rely on uniform security officers to create and maintain safe communities and play an important role in their respective workplace violence prevention plans. |

free security officer training: Armed Security Guard Training Manual Bernard Martinage, 2014-06-01 All states have different regulations, laws, licensing and requirements for security guards. This is especially true regarding the use of deadly force, power of detain, arrest and many other legal aspects of being a security guard. It is the responsibility of the school, instructor, to know the laws relating to security guard activities for the State, County or City in which they train, and for which they train. These laws and regulations are easy to find and free to print because they are of the public domain. While all states may have different laws, almost all states includes in their armed security guard training and educational requirements firearm knowledge and technical skills so the armed security guard can effectively use a firearm in the defense of self and others. This Armed Security Guard Training Manual was developed to meet the most stringent standard. It represents 40 hours of study materials,. It also includes 10 hours legal section that discusses Weapons and Firearms and the use of deadly force. These 10 hours of the curriculum are modeled after Florida laws, which regulates heavily security guard activities. This section constitutes an excellent moral guideline to work from, BUT, it is your responsibility to research and teach the law of your state, county, city, as well as ensure that you take the steps you need to meet your state's licensing requirements, if there are any. Last but not least, this kit, as you see it, is what we use every day to train our pupils at Safe N Secure. |

free security officer training: Labour and the Free Churches, 1918-1939 Peter Catterall, 2016-10-06 Did the Labour Party, in Morgan Phillips' famous phrase, owe 'more to Methodism than Marx'? Were the founding fathers of the party nurtured in the chapels of Nonconformity and shaped by their emphases on liberty, conscience and the value of every human being in the eyes of God? How did the Free Churches, traditionally allied to the Liberal Party, react to the growing importance of the Labour Party between the wars? This book addresses these questions at a range of levels: including organisation; rhetoric; policies and ideals; and electoral politics. It is shown that the distinctive religious setting in which Labour emerged indeed helps to explain the differences between it and more Marxist counterparts on the Continent, and that this setting continued to influence Labour approaches towards welfare, nationalisation and industrial relations between the wars. In the process Labour also adopted some of the righteousness of tone of the Free Churches. This setting was, however, changing. Dropping their traditional suspicion of the State, Nonconformists instead increasingly invested it with religious values, helping to turn it through its growing welfare functions into the provider of practical Christianity. This nationalisation of religion continues to shape British attitudes to the welfare state as well as imposing narrowly utilitarian and material tests of relevance upon the churches and other social institutions. The elevation of the State was not, however, intended as an end in itself. What mattered were the social and individual outcomes. Socialism, for those Free Churchmen and women who helped to shape Labour in the early twentieth century, was about improving society as much as systems. |
